Illichivsk port sees cargo turnover drop by 14% in first five months of 2011 - State-run Illichivsk maritime merchant port in Odesa region January through May 2011 saw its cargo turnover drop by 14.1% year-over-year, to 5.875 million tonnes. According to the port, cargo turnover in May 2011 alone fell by 6.7%, to 981,000 tonnes. Container turnover at the port in the first five months of 2011 rose by 2.9%, to 113,000 TEU. Container turnover in May 2011 alone declined by 5.7%, to 21,000 TEU. The port of Illichivsk is one of the four largest Ukrainian ports. It has the capacity to handle more than 30 million tonnes of cargo annually. It has a 6,000-meter long quay with 29 berths. It also has three railway entry points and three checkpoints for road transport. In 2010, the port reduced cargo turnover by 7.6% compared to 2009, to 15.055 million tonnes.
